7 reasons to invest in Edward Bulmer Natural Paint

We are a family business

We are a small, family business and unlike any other paint brand our natural paints are designed, created and ‘homemade’ by leading interior designer, architectural historian and ‘colour man’, Edward Bulmer.

We have a team of 22 across two locations, the Herefordshire HQ, our office is in fact in an old cow barn and the paint factory a restored Dutch barn set in beautiful rolling countryside. We also have our inspiring London showroom with a friendly team of colour experts.

Like a top chef, Edward is passionate about every colour we produce, how it has been made and the raw materials we use to make it.  It not only matters that the paint colours look beautiful in your home, for Edward, it matters that more that our paints do not cost the earth.

Environmentally Friendly Formulas

We are proud to declare our natural paints contain no harmful VOCs, we believe they are the safest, healthiest and most beautiful on the market.

We also have a game-changing plant-based binder, our binder is the blinder, most modern paints use acrylic binders which are in fact non renewable plastics made from oil and gas; the same fossil fuels which are the number one cause of climate change.

We have a strong commitment to sustainability throughout our production process: all of our packaging is recyclable, our paint is mixed to order, resulting in less waste, and our wall paint is completely free of fossil fuel derived nasties. The manufacturing process of bio-based paint is carbon neutral and no toxic waste is produced. You can even compost leftover wall paint.

‘Our natural paint business has been built from the ground up, driven by the belief that, simply by making it differently, paint need not be polluting or unsustainable. We can play our small part in leaving a world where our children and grandchildren can thrive in balance with nature.’ Edward Bulmer.

We are on a mission to change the way house paint is made with a business model which accounts for people, planet and profit in that order.

How much paint do I need?

We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.

Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.

If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

What are you painting?

Estimated
Painted Wall/Ceiling Area

Our natural matt emulsion is perfect for interior walls and ceilings.

0 litres

0 m2

This estimate is based on the dimensions of your room, minus the space taken by average doors and windows.

For this area, we suggest would be adequate.

Estimated
Woodwork Area

Our water based eggshell or gloss is ideal for woodwork or metalwork.

0 litres

0 m2

This estimate is based on skirting and the doors/windows you tell us about. 1 litre should cover 2-3 doors or 20m of skirting.

For this area, we suggest would be adequate.
