Dutch Orange is Edward’s homage to the great decorator John Fowler, whose celebrated schemes could almost be summarised as variations on coral pink, lime green and three shades of white. It is Fowler’s coral pink that Edward has most admired. Fowler understood that the quality of paint was as important as the colour itself, achieving his distinctive shades with coloured glazes over a white base rather than the flat matt finishes we commonly use today. Our Natural Emulsion does, however, have something of the character of the traditional distempers he used beneath these glazes, and this rich coral orange is an affectionate nod to both his colour and his approach to decorating.
Colours can vary between screens, we recommend trying a Sample Pot or A5 Colour Card before buying.
