Our Shades Explained We often hear that you love a colour but would like it a little bit lighter, or that you’d like to use several different shades in the room, or a paler shade of one of our conscious colours on the ceiling. So we have introduced lighter shades in 20 of our top selling colours to make sure you get the perfect tone for your home. You can see examples of our shades on our colour chart, which you can see illustrated below. However, we would strongly recommend ordering these in a sample pot if you are still unsure. Our lighter shade colours are marked with an icon on the swatch on our website, and with a red asterisk on our concertina. The Shade Collection by Edward Bulmer Natural Paint We have created three lighter shades, with 60%, 40% and 20% of the potency. We do this carefully by reducing the pigment without the colour migrating completely. Below are a couple of examples of our best-selling shade colours – Cuisse de Nymphe, Emue, and Jonquil, 100% is the ‘full colour’ whilst 60% includes slightly less pigment, and 40% and 20% are much lighter.
