IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING WATER BASED EGGSHELL AND GLOSS PAINT ON WOODWORK THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PAINTED IN KITCHENS OR OTHER AREAS WHERE GREASE MIGHT HAVE ACCUMULATED So this applies to all water based eggshell paint not just Edward Bulmer Natural Paint. It is particularly relevant to kitchen cupboards where the accumulation of grease on the surface of cupboards and drawers is unavoidable. Use spray degreaser and follow manufacturer instructions. Wipe clean and dry thoroughly after degreasing completed. Sand well with sander (preferably) or sandpaper using P80 Grit. Hoover off the dust and wipe with tack cloth. Sand again with P12 Grit. Remove dust and wipe with tack cloth again. Apply eggshell primer. Fill any cracks and then sand to create even surface. Spot paint the filled areas with top coat. Apply first top coat and leave to dry overnight. Do not expect to sand and recoat in a day as dust will stick to surface and finish will not have hardened sufficiently. Sand using P240. Apply second top coat and leave to dry. Water based paints will take 2 weeks to cure properly but the surface is sufficiently dry for usage after 24 hours. TIPS For best results remove cupboard and repaint in a workshop to avoid excess dust sticking on newly prepared surfaces and for ease of sanding.
