Though clearly a must have green in the 18th century the many suppliers who listed it did not always agree on the recipe. Most used green verditer rendering quite a blue green but others added varying yellows bringing it closer to the colour we associate with the vegetable. I have adopted this fresher hue – the type that brings the joy of the garden indoors. Nature is what we are constantly inspired by, our plant-based recipe is centered around protecting the planets’ finite resources. Pea Green is a great background for artwork, from pictures to textiles.
Invisible green is the colour of confidence, equally at ease in grand rooms and humble nests. It’s the perfect shade of calm and joy – and who doesn’t need that in their lives? My lovely decorators are always happy to see the tins appear, but I’m also an impulsive colour changer, especially in my children’s rooms, so I appreciate first hand how easily the paint runs and how much work has gone into making them safe for us all.
