It is fair to say that in the 18th century this colour would have been made by tinting white with a little lamp black. We have borrowed the name but mixed a more complex colour by adding in red oxide and yellow ochre. These earthy tones give the colour not just that of ash, but that of a wood ash. A great mid grey for walls in town and country, hallway, bathroom or kitchen! We make organic paints using wonderful natural pigments which contain no harmful VOCs. Natural paint which does not cost the earth.
Ash Grey is available in lighter shades of the original, 60%, 40% and 20% lighter, a warm light grey paint that works very well in kitchens, hallways and utilities.
Our decorator decided to use it just in case, so not sure if we really needed it or not. And after being worried he wasn’t keen on our non-Dulux choice, (he told me he has only used natural paint (Auro) four times in forty years) he said he thought it was great, went on well and lovely coverage. So happy all round.
