Created in partnership with the Soil Association to mark its 80th anniversary, Our Precious Earth Palette is both a celebration and a statement of intent. It reflects a shared commitment to the natural world. To understanding that the materials we use, and the way we live, are inseparable from the health of the land. Comprising twelve colours made from earth and mineral pigments, the palette draws directly from nature. It moves through the seasons, capturing the quiet rhythms of the year. From the first stirrings of spring to the deeper, burnished tones of winter, and bringing them thoughtfully into the home. Edward Bulmer creating Butterball. From the Precious Earth Palette, autumn. Colours Rooted in the Land The palette unfolds as the year does. Each shade is grounded in the soil itself, a reminder that true and lasting colour has its origins in the land. In spring, Blossom, Straw Silk and Eau de Nile speak of emergence. Soft, hopeful tones that mirror new growth and lengthening days. It sustains plant growth, supports biodiversity, regulates water and stores carbon. Yet it is too often overlooked. Degraded soils are a hidden driver of many of today’s most pressing challenges: from climate instability and polluted waterways to the loss of wildlife and resilience in our food systems. To restore the health of our soils is to address these challenges at their root. Eight Decades of Leadership For 80 years, the Soil Association has led the way in championing organic and agroecological farming, work that once sat at the margins but is now recognised as essential to a sustainable future. This anniversary marks not only how far the movement has come, but the urgency of what lies ahead. Farming must continue to evolve: from being a contributor to environmental harm to becoming a central part of the solution. Nature-friendly approaches can restore soil health, support wildlife and produce nourishing food, while strengthening rural economies and communities. Colour, in its truest form, comes from the earth, and carries with it a story of place, process and provenance. This collaboration brings together craft and conservation, connecting the colours we live with to the landscapes that inspire them. It is an opportunity to reflect more deeply on where things come from, and why that matters. It also speaks to a broader truth: that human creativity and culture are rooted in a thriving natural world. Earth pigment in paint creation. Without a thriving natural world, we will not survive. Yet the way we farm and eat today is one of the biggest drivers of environmental damage.” It is a perspective that underpins this collaboration, and one that feels increasingly urgent. Bringing Nature Indoors Our Precious Earth Palette offers a way to reflect these values within the home. Each colour carries something of the landscape within it. Its depth, its nuance and its quiet vitality. In choosing such materials, we are reminded that our interiors need not be separate from the natural world, but can instead be an extension of it. We invite you to explore the palette in full, discover the depth and character of each colour, and consider how these tones that are rooted in the soil might shape your own spaces.
