One of the world’s oldest pigments has been around so long it has many names – Royal, Shellfish, Imperial, Byzantine and Purple of the Ancients. We use mineral pigments for the substance of the colour (letting the shellfish off the hook) and offer a tone, not for the fainthearted, but so rewarding when used with high contrast whites for the trim or an all over treatment with rich textiles.
"I will never use anything except Edward Bulmer paint again, I have to say. Plus I have no idea why the decorator forums made it sound so difficult! If it's within my capabilities, it's within anyone's!"
