Drab Green

Drab referred to an un-dyed cloth (the French drap) and its use in colour terminology came to mean a lightish brown. C18th accounts refer to drab green and we have taken this idea to mix a beautiful brown green in defiance of its name. I have seen this colour used by clients to create really grown up rooms with depth and self-assurance. Great as an all-over colour for wooden panelling.  Drab Green is a natural paint, made from natural raw materials and so breathable and the smarter choice of paint for period properties. Never drab, always green, in every way.

Each colour feels so carefully considered and they have a beautiful finish on the wall. We love to use colours that are less ’true’ as they work so well throughout the year, changing in tone with the seasons. It was this that drew us to Drab green.

Sarah Mazdon

When renovating and extending our house near Bath we put love and energy into every detail, from door handles, to floorboards and furniture to paintings. But the thing that made the biggest difference to creating the atmosphere of our dream home was the paint. Not only are the colours subtle and artistic, but the smell and chalky …

Edward mixed a warm grey blue for our new Entrance Hall with his natural paints. It worked perfectly with the woven paisley curtain fabric we had chosen.  Better still these paints are much healthier than modern ones and kinder to allergy sufferers, which was important for us. Goodwood has a very particular character and Edward’s palette complimented the architecture, …

We have just had our kitchen painted with Mummy after it was recommended by one of your staff. I didn’t know if it would work with the sage coloured units but it’s worked so well. Your staff really know their paint colours! The decorators also said it was beautiful paint to work with, so thank …

How much paint do I need?

We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.

Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.

If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

What are you painting?
