Known in house (and palace) painting in the C17th, this colour only requires blue, black and raw umber pigments. It is a rich colour when used on panelling and would have been expensive to achieve. Originally it would have been mixed in ‘oyle paint’ and built up in 3 to 5 layers. Our recipe is very successful in our water based emulsion and eggshells and can utterly transform a panelled room, even today! All our water based paints are virtually odourless and contain no harmful VOC’s, you can sleep in the room the same day as painting it!

Our Water Based Eggshell has a satin finish with 20% sheen so still has a softness to it. Perfect for woodwork and metalwork this finish is easy to apply. Sold in 1 and 2.5-litre tins.
Our Water Based Gloss is our highest satin product with an 80% sheen. This product is perfect for interior and exterior woodwork and metalwork with a durable finish. Sold in 1 and 2.5-litre tins.
