Ash Grey

It is fair to say that in the 18th century this colour would have been made by tinting white with a little lamp black. We have borrowed the name but mixed a more complex colour by adding in red oxide and yellow ochre. These earthy tones give the colour not just that of ash, but that of a wood ash. A great mid grey for walls in town and country, hallway, bathroom or kitchen!

Our decorator decided to use it just in case, so not sure if we really needed it or not. And after being worried he wasn’t keen on our non-Dulux choice, (he told me he has only used natural paint (Auro) four times in forty years) he said he thought it was great, went on well and lovely coverage. So happy all round.

How much paint do I need?

We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.

Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.

If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

What are you painting?
