Warm and exotic; as the name sums up this colour was based on turquoise mixed into white. Turkish and Turquiose long had the same meaning and the description was more often than not referring to the route by which minerals and pigments were traded from Constantinople. It was based on Cobalt blue and was given a wonderful greenish lustre by ancient ‘alchemists’. A colour to gladden the heart with the feel of summer in far off lands!
“your paint in our hall in London looks great; love the two tones in different light temperatures! The painter was impressed with the coverage.”
