As summer unfolds and Wimbledon returns for another year, there’s something quietly powerful about the colour white taking centre stage, both in homes and on the courts. For interior designers and homeowners, white has long been a go-to for painting walls. But as anyone who’s stood in front of a wall of swatches knows, not all whites are created equal. Our paints are renowned for their natural ingredients and they are added to our whites to create an enticing palette of varying tones. Take Milk White, a creamy, mellow tone that brings warmth without yellowing, Fair White, a soft, clean white that pairs beautifully with natural light and traditional interiors or Rose Tinted White, that has hints of red oxide and vermillion, creating a white with the subtlest hint of pink. Each shade is crafted with plant-based ingredients and natural pigments, giving depth and character that synthetic paints can’t recreate. Every colour tells a different story—and choosing the right one for your space is as much about emotion as it is about aesthetics. Milk White looks warm and welcoming in both this kitchen by Beauvamp, paired with Fawn on the woodwork, and in Edward’s study where he has drenched the room from top to toe. Milk White. The wall colour decided on was Portland. The history is in the name, a colour linked to Portland Stone, it uses earth and ore pigments to create a grown up neutral. It is very popular in bedrooms and bathrooms and offers warmth to an East facing room. Illustrated below is how great it can look in a kitchen and sitting room. The paint was lovely, went on so easily with only two coats Tessa Pound Painting your entire home in white might seem like a dream, or maybe too daunting. But in truth, it’s an expressive, thoughtful decision. Choosing white throughout allows each room to breathe, while offering a cohesive experience when moving from space to space. The images below illustrate how calming and seamless it can make a home feel. Silver White. Credit: Hop Kiln Silver White. Credit: Hop Kiln Silver White. They evolve with light, age with grace, and create spaces that feel open, calm, and connected to the earth.
