Founder, Brendan Murdock, is passionate about the apothecaries of old that dispensed herbal remedies, potions and lotions to support health and wellbeing. Working with botanicals and essential oils for many years and through his creative passions and interest in food, perfume and skincare Brendan had a deep desire to update and reinvent  apothecary for a new generation. And so Anatomē was born! The result being a brand that puts nutrition, mental and physical well-being and sleep at its forefront.

Anatomē is driven by a simple belief that nutritional and emotional balance is the key to a healthy, fulfilling life and a healthy, nourished body will support a healthy mind. They work with an expert team of nutritionists to produce the best supplements from the finest organic, botanical and scientifically proven ingredients. They have recently opened a new store on Motcomb street, an area framed by heritage Regency buildings and lined with gorgeous stores and restaurants. We were thrilled when the Anatome team approached us about using our natural and healthy paints and seeing the unique space come to life painted in our beautiful soft colours.

Anatomē worked with emerging design studio, Child Studio to design a sustainable space and infrastructure using reconstituted materials from architectural salvage brand and studio, Retrouvius. This design studio turns respectfully re-used materials to distinctive, contemporary ends, repurposing antiques in a modern way.

Brendan worked with us in selecting the right paint colours for the shop.  For the Motcomb Street store Light Olive Green,  Invisible Geen, Jonquil and Azurite were used. Brendan believes: “wellness and mindfulness is anchored in colour’s that don’t just express moods or feelings, but importantly, express the vitality of life, of which anatomē seeks to support and nurture.”

A painted mural which is a reinterpretation of traditional apothecary counters, runs along the coving and is painted in a selection of our colours. The style is inspired by Giorgio Morandi still life paintings and their simplicity. The painting technique is an abstract version of a trompe-l’œil wall frescoes.

This natural light filled space creates a calming environment full of positive energy and a great deal of attention has been paid to every aspect of the store from the light boxes, vintage wall lights and the antique sink and counter. The team are so knowledgeable and helpful too.

Like us, sustainability is key to the brand’s offering and great care is applied to use recyclable, timeless glass bottles and jars, paper labelling and paper ‘refill’ packaging. There is no risk of harmful chemicals getting into their products that are packed in glass, which means that no additional additives are needed to preserve their products. Anatomē supports organic farming and traceable, sustainable supply chains. Community is vitally important and the brand supports London Charities that advocate for the mental and physical health of others, as well as being an official partner with Hospital Rooms.
