We are proud to declare everything at Edward Bulmer Natural Paint

At Edward Bulmer Natural Paint we provide you with an honest declaration of ALL our ingredients.  We can even tell you precisely how they are produced and from what country they are sourced. Our paint is made from naturally occurring raw materials of plant origin like linseed oil, or from mineral raw materials such as chalk, earth and mineral pigments. We do not use dangerous solvents, pesticides, herbicides or toxins.

Our non-toxic paints are your ‘health insurance’ and this is why we are happy to give you a full and honest list of their ingredients.

Interior Design in a Tin

Our natural paints are designed, created and ‘homemade’ for you by an expert. Like a top chef, Edward is passionate about every colour we produce, how it has been made and the raw materials we use to make it.  It not only matters that this paint colour will look beautiful in your home, for Edward, our paint must not cost the earth.

When you decide to buy our paints you are getting more than a beautiful colour and quality finish, you are getting passion and knowledge from one of the UK’s leading interior designers.  Edward has been in the House & Garden Top 100 (link?) for a number of years now.  He is without doubt the ‘go to’ interior designer if you have a historic home or building project.  Although he got side tracked with his campaign to clean up the paint industry which led to the creation of Edward Bulmer Natural Paint, he remains in demand for that rare combination of historical knowledge, creativity and practicality that he brings to major restoration projects in the nation’s most important buildings and family homes.

Edward Bulmer

We Care !

Accountable sustainability is in our DNA. Edward is an active eco campaigner, hosting an annual Spring Greens Fair at his HQ in Herefordshire and chairing one of the UK’s most forward thinking foundations on sustainable living. He is passionate about making our living spaces healthier for us, our buildings and our environment. For the past 10 years he has been working with specialist paint manufacturers to develop beautiful coloured paints which are both safer and healthier by returning to non toxic paint formulations. Both mainstream and premium plastic (acrylic) paints are largely made from petro chemicals derived from refined crude oil.

Emma (Director) has worked in waste-to-energy infrastructure for 25+ years and has pushed the construction for one of the largest waste-to-energry plants in the UK over the finish line. Emma has turned her passion for problem solving and sustainable innovation to Paint!

Fundamentally their concern for the environment is because they want their children to live on this amazing planet too!

How much paint do I need?

We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.

Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.

If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

What are you painting?

Estimated
Painted Wall/Ceiling Area

Our natural matt emulsion is perfect for interior walls and ceilings.

0 litres

0 m2

This estimate is based on the dimensions of your room, minus the space taken by average doors and windows.

For this area, we suggest would be adequate.

Estimated
Woodwork Area

Our water based eggshell or gloss is ideal for woodwork or metalwork.

0 litres

0 m2

This estimate is based on skirting and the doors/windows you tell us about. 1 litre should cover 2-3 doors or 20m of skirting.

For this area, we suggest would be adequate.
