Welcome to the second part of the blog on pairing our whites with colours. This blog will look at the best way to match our whites with yellows, browns, reds and greys. With 20 beautiful and varied whites to choose from, it’s clear that all whites are not the same. The subtle amount of pigments added to our whites dramatically alters how they behave in a space. The combination of the pigment, the colour they are paired with and the light in the room are all things to consider when picking a white for your walls, ceiling or woodwork. When placed alongside bolder colours, natural whites can soften the contrast or enhance the surrounding tones, depending on their own warmth or coolness. To achieve the look you want, have a look at some pairings that our founder, Edward has put together to help with your decision making. YELLOWS Naples Yellow and Whiting stripes, design by Lorfords Antiques. Naples Yellow, a yellow that can accurately be called an eruption of colour is paired here with Whiting, a versatile off white shade. It both complements lighter colour schemes and anchors stronger hues, as shown here with these dramatic stripes. One of our newer whites is Water Glass, a perfect tone to sit alongside yellows. It is a cooling white that will calm stronger tones that are laden with pigments.
