The Soho Lighting Co. have just launched a new range of paintable downlighters, so they can be painted beautifully into your project. To create a cohesive look throughout a scheme or space, you can now match your lighting hardware to the ceiling and wall colour. With switches and sockets also available to give a room the full treatment. Of course, they don’t need to be painted to match, they can be painted to clash too! For ceiling lights, the downlighters can be painted in your chosen ceiling colour emulsion – they are primed and ready to paint how brilliant is that! For higher traffic sockets and light switches we would recommend using our more durable eggshell finish – if you are drenching the room you will need this for your woodwork anyway! Jonquil in the home of Lee Lovett, founder of The Soho Lighting Co. Soho Lighting founder Lee Lovett visited our London showroom, and with colour consultant Emma, created schemes to inspire using a wide range of our colours. From calming soft tones such as Jonquil, Quaker and Fawn to stronger colours like Pompadour, Invisible Green or Azurite there’s a scheme to suit all tastes. Pompadour, Etruscan Brown and Tyrian. Emma says “This is beautiful and quite regal, so I would be looking more towards our rich colours. Etruscan Brown, which is a majestic sitting room colour; Pompadour or Tyrian – all strong colours, but I think that this finish can take it.” Jonquil. Credit: The Soho Lighting Co. For the Matt Black switch from the Camden Collection, Emma says: “This is a great contemporary finish and, as it is richly dark, I would look towards a lighter, warmer shade like Jonquil. It has a hint of yellow pigment and, depending on the light within your room, you could go with 60, 40, 20% of Jonquil. The lighter the room the fuller strength of Jonquil it can hold.” The Eldon Collection is a popular choice for modern styled homes and works seamlessly in white kitchens and is great for those who prefer a contemporary aesthetic. Emma says “As it is so white, unless you are going for a seamless blend with the wall colour, I would go with a deep colour like Aquatic.” Explore further the colours used in this article… Jonquil Order a Sample 100 60 40 20 Aquatic Order a Sample Tyrian Order a Sample Etruscan Brown Order a Sample Pompadour Order a Sample Edward Bulmer Natural Paint and The Soho Light Co. are both born from similar origins – the inability to find what they wanted and needed for their interior design projects, so they created it themselves. Edward was working at Goodwood House in 2003, which demanded only non-toxic and sustainable materials. On analysing so-called ‘eco-friendly’ paint products, he found there was nothing available. This led to the launch of his own paint collection, Edward Bulmer Natural Paint. In 2017, Lee Lovett was renovating and refurbishing historical buildings in Soho, London and was unable to source beautiful lighting, switches and sockets. She went on to create her own and called the company The Soho Lighting Co. All the products are British designed and made, with manufacturing taking place in Cornwall. Their focus is on high end design and performance. Two companies with a strong commitment to making a positive impact on people and planet are always happy to get together to discuss colour, design and beautiful finishes.
