This week, our London Townhouse was filled with colour, creativity, and conversation as we hosted a very special preview party for the launch of our Edward Bulmer Natural Paint × Chatsworth Collection. Guests were among the first to experience 24 exquisite new shades inspired by the treasures of Chatsworth House. One of the highlights of the evening was seeing how the stories behind each colour sparked curiosity and delight. Take Herbarium, for example: inspired by an 18th-century herbarium recently discovered at Chatsworth, this rich burnt-orange hue was drawn from a many-petalled sunflower preserved in its pages. Alongside pressed flowers, the herbarium includes whimsical collage figures cut from periodicals of the time, and we loved seeing how guests connected the textures and history of the original pieces with the vibrant paint shade. Herbarium by Lorford's Antiques. The party was designed as an intimate exploration of colour and craftsmanship. Guests moved from one vignette to another, sampling inspiration and enjoying the warmth of conversation. Our décor echoed the collection itself, with subtle nods to the historic textures and botanical themes of Chatsworth’s archives. Photos captured moments of discovery, laughter, and the first glimpses of these 24 new shades in all their glory – a true celebration of the beauty of nature, art, and design coming together. And of course, no preview party is complete without a signature drink. To toast the launch, we created the Herbarium Spritz, inspired by the colours and botanical themes of the evening. You can enjoy it at home too: Herbarium Spritz Recipe 35 ml Chatsworth Gin 15 ml Campari 60 ml blood orange juice 15 ml rosemary simple syrup Top with sparkling water Build over ice in a tumbler, stir gently, and garnish with a slice of dried orange and a sprig of rosemary if you like. The cocktail’s balance of bitter, sweet, and citrus mirrors the layered textures and history captured in the Herbarium shade itself. The Van Gogh House Revived Livia Lang and her family have brought a piece of London history back to life with their restoration and conservation of the Van Gogh House in Stockwell, South London. At the age of 20, Vincent Van Gogh settled in this Grade II listed building between the years of 1873 to 1874. This was his first time living and working in a new country and his first foray into a foreign culture.
