Kitchen Colourways with Emma Diaz and Jim Lawrence

Our natural paints Emma Diaz paired with Jim Lawrence Kitchen cupboard knobs

Classic, high quality and traditional – over the past 20 years Jim Lawrence has created a superior collection of hand crafted home furnishings including lighting, curtain poles, lampshades and more, in the most exquisite finishes. It was so lovely to play a small part in their collaboration on finding the perfect kitchen finish for your Kitchen, with our colour consultant Emma Diaz.

With Emma’s guidance, Jim Lawrence has selected the perfect shades to marry with their range range of kitchen cupboard knobs and drawer handles, from our blue ‘Vert de Mer‘ to our yellow ‘Persian‘, find below a selection of our breathable colours paired beautifully with Jim Lawrence’s Kitchen handles, from contemporary, to traditional and modern.

Colourful kitchens have been enjoying rather a renaissance, from rustic farmhouse looks to more modern sleek designs, we have been seeing more and more colour on walls, cabinets & woodwork and even ceilings! Using brighter colours on cabinets or kitchen islands is not a new ‘trend’ but the colours being used and the combination of colours are most definitely more creative and confident. Take a look at our blog, ‘4 colour ideas for your kitchen‘ and be inspired.

Drab Green

'Drab Green' with Jim Lawrence's 'Large Napier Cupboard Knob'

“Create a truly heritage look by using Drab Green with your Polished Lacquer finish. Green is always a popular choice for kitchens and this shade works because it’s neither too pale, or too dark. It is a shade of green that is extremely versatile and easy to live with, no matter what the age of your property. Use it all over (including walls) in a pantry with wooden worktops for a really heritage look, or on cabinetry for a brighter, more modern country kitchen feel. “

Red Ochre

'Red Ochre' with Jim Lawrence's 'Reeded Cupboard Knob'

“A favourite colour of mine, Red Ochre with antiqued brass is a wonderfully traditional pairing, creating a homely, traditional look. This red is not bright, but deep and earthy, so it doesn’t dominate a space. It was often used in old country kitchens. The antique brass compliments it beautifully, bringing out the warmth in the shade and making sure the traditional country kitchen look is right up to date. “

Persian

'Persian' with Jim Lawrence's 'Gilby Drawer Pull'

“Yellow kitchens are very on trend at the moment, and this colour is warm and bold whilst staying earthy. The heritage copper handles complement the warmth of this optimistic shade to bring it all together beautifully.”

Milk White

'Milk White' paired with 'Cook's Drawer Pull'

“This pairing is perfect for a wonderfully fresh kitchen space. I love this white because it’s warm and strong enough to stand alone as a cabinetry colour. The addition of matt black for the cupboard knobs and handles can create a traditional, or modern monochrome style. Use this pairing with wood in a kitchen to give it a warmer, more rustic feel, or combine it with a white or black counter top for more modern, minimalist, monochrome style.”

Vert de Mer

'Vert de Mer' paired with 'Schoolhouse Drawer Pull'

“This is a pairing equally at home in a modern country farmhouse kitchen as an  on-trend London apartment. Vert De Mer is a rich, timeless blue that is beautifully emphasized by the freshness of the Nickel finish in this scheme. Pair with limestone floors for a country feel or quartz or marble worktops for a modern touch.”

How much paint do I need?

We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.

Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.

If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

What are you painting?
