Consider it as a present for everyone; unrivalled colours and finish, healthy with no nasty off-gasing and being one of the most breathable paints, you are even looking after your house – decorations are not just for Christmas!

Whether you just want to zhuzh up the kitchen for Christmas, inject some glamour and style into the dining room, make bedrooms magical and guest rooms unforgettable or maybe simply create snugs and sitting rooms full of warmth. We have the perfect colours for you and with our easy to use paints which require no more than two coats, time is on your side.

We have a feeling this Christmas is going to be a special one, full of wonder and love. If we can help you in any way to create your perfect Christmas do get in touch here.

Here are some of our favourite winter wonder walls to inspire you.

Spruce up you sitting room this Christmas

Nothing beats sinking into the sofa after your Christmas feast. At Christmas your sitting room is often a space for the family to open gifts from loved ones, to enjoy a festive drink with friends, play games or snuggle down and retreat to watch a classic Christmas film.

‘Welmish Blew’ which graced the December cover of Homes & Gardens last year, this icy blue is far from cold, a versatile warmish blue which works in all room settings.  We love all the red accents, artwork and fabrics – the ultimate winter wonderland but take away the stockings and garlands and you have a beautiful room for every day of the year.

‘Pomona’, pictured below at Edward’s home, is a soft apple green which works in both period and modern interiors and creates a timeless aesthetic which just works effortlessly with so many colours, see Edward’s recommended tonal palette and plan you decorations accordingly.

We love creating sophisticated ambience with our darker colours, they works especially well in smaller and darker rooms, light them up by lamplight and candlelight and create rooms like the one below in our ‘Indigo’.

Decorating tip: to be conscious this Christmas swap tinsel for winter greenery like holly, ivy, mistletoe and pine cones, all of which can be foraged for in gardens or local woodland areas or bought in garden centres and flower shops.

Bedrooms full of magic

Nothing melts even the most Scrooge like amongst us than children’s bedrooms with stockings put out and natural decorations, think Peter Pan and all your favourite stories from childhood with Christmas carols wafting through the house.

Inject some fun with rooms in our yellows and greens or we opt for soft shades; we just adore this girls’ room in ‘Cuisse de Nymphe Emue’ and twin boys’ room in ‘Duck Egg’.

Decorating tip: keep it natural with wood, material or paper decorations, avoid buying plastic baubles, streamers or other throw away decorations. We love making paper chains out of painted swatches – top tip is to use up old sample pots and get the children to paint out onto large paper card and create their own.

Go all out glamour for decadent dining rooms

The Christmas feast is arguably the most important part of the day so why not have a change of colour on the walls to serve as the perfect backdrop to your Christmas spread.

Go for deeper indulgent colours such as ‘Drab Green’ and add colour in the decorations and furnishings, pictured is a Christmas classic designed by Salvsesen Graham with Oka and of course our dramatic green as the backdrop.

Or create a paired back rustic Scandi-chic look with warm white washed walls which glow in candle light and look incredible in contrast with lots of foraged greenery, try ‘Spanish White’ seen below. Sometimes nothing beats a classic warm grey and ‘Mouse Grey‘ has brown undertones which take it from being drab to delicious, see last image, accessorised simply with lots of ivy and greenery.

Decorating tip: crackers produce a lot of waste at Christmas time so try and source your crackers from sustainable brands or ones that are plastic free, we love these reusable ones made from Liberty remnants Happy Crackers. Edward’s top tip is to use ivy over paintings, berries from holly can cause havoc behind your art and mark your paintwork and flooring.

Create quick kitchen chic

Let’s face it the kitchen is the heart of the house at Christmas. We love a kitchen in full colour like our ‘Invisible Green’ seen below, you cannot help but smile when seeing this colour – such a happy hue.

On the other side of the colour wheel we are drawn to dusty pinks in kitchens, from modern to farmhouse, it is the ultimate colour for any domestic god or goddess to create some magic. Why not try one of our popular pinks like ‘Jonquil‘ or ‘Cuisse de Nymphe Emue’, these soft pinks add that hint of warmth we all need during the cold winter period and are the perfect backdrop for beautiful decorations.

Decorating tip: use over sized bowls of festive fruits and vegetables as natural colour pops, we love clementines, lemons and dates in abundance which look wonderful against our pinks.

Festive Fireplaces

Wall paint aside, whether a hallway or bedroom we cannot leave a fireplace undecorated. A couple of favourites below.

Decorating tip: Go natural, go large, go….. va va voom! We love maximalist foliage, look out for pink spindle berries or the beautiful white rowan berries and just add lots of candles. Wrapping presents in brown paper with twine and creating a hanging decoration as seen below at Dorfold Hall is a brilliant idea too.

Over to you but if you do need any help do get in touch or book a virtual colour consultancy pre Christmas.

How much paint do I need?

We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.

Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.

If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

What are you painting?
