In our London Showroom we are hosting a collection of colourful works by artist Pete Beckett. This exhibition shows a range of paintings with a variety of different subjects from abstract landscapes to more figurative depictions. Pete Beckett is a British artist who lives and paint in his studio in Cheshire. His main medium is oil and acrylic paints and predominantly specialises in landscapes. This exhibition of works has filled our showroom with even more colour and creativity and is open until the 7th November so do stop by to see these works in the flesh! Keep scrolling to see a selection of Pete’s work that is on display. 'Bulls Head Reflection' Pete uses a variety of approaches, ranging from representative to abstract. Some recent work has also included figurative, birds, animals and still-life subjects. Having travelled extensively, his inspiration comes from many different first-hand sources, always aiming to catch the mood and colour of a place, ideally sparking something special in each of our own mind’s eye. Artworks by Pete Beckett against our 'Mummy' Mummy Cinnamon Trumpington Celadon 'Green Vase' A large portion of the works on display are abstract landscapes inspired by his home countryside of Cheshire and beyond. Pete has spent time traveling around Africa which has inspired some paintings of the wonderful landscapes he has seen, and more recently incorporating big game animal sightings in his works too. A dynamic use of brush and colour brings these abstract and real places to life. Pete uses a variety of techniques when applying paint to canvas, often creating texture with multiple paint layers and working with palette knives to apply paint thickly. 'Sea meets Land' and 'Provence' against our Lilac Pink Pete Beckett work's against our 'Invisible Green' Invisible Green Turquoise Quaker Pale Smoke Grey 'Pear in Paint' Pete experimented with some of our waste paint and also found inspiration in some of our imagery, such as our apple dipped in paint. He placed these motifs against landscapes which combines an abstract background with the very realistic foreground subject, thus creating somewhat of a surreal work. 'Holly Dip' 'Oak Dip' 'Two Horizons' 'Desert' 'Full Moon Tree' Having drawn and painted since my school days, I still find the process of continuing to learn and experiment with paint very exciting. Each new creation is a completely original experience of capturing an image which evolves and aims to strike a chord. Putting enough paint down to draw the observer into a picture needs to be weighed up with the intention of not over-finishing a piece. In this way, the observer can put their own interpretation on the image and unlock that recognition of a place or situation without nature being copied. Pete Beckett 'Full Moon Rise' against our 'Invisible Green' 'Bull Elephant Stand-off' against our 'Mummy' Mummy Ochre Inferior Grey 'Nash Scape', against our 'Ochre' This exhibition is up in our showroom until 7th November, so if you are in the Pimlico Road area do stop by, Pete works are even more glorious in the flesh!
