Aspiga is a sustainable slow fashion success story. What drives and inspires you? I am driven by wanting to see the business to grow into one of the best and most loved sustainable UK brands. I am inspired to keep trying to keep up with all the new an involving ways to try to limit the impact we have on the planet and at the same time designing beautiful timeless garments. Tell us a surprising fact about yourself? Gosh, I can’t think of one.. !! Maybe that at the age of 52 I have only just found out / realised I have ADD. I always knew I couldn’t really concentrate, and my school reports certainly highlighted that, but it was listening to another entrepreneur this year, on a podcast, explaining he had just worked it out and talked about his symptoms, that I realised that was me.. St Tropez on the horizon Kenyan Beach cleans organised by Aspiga If you could open an Aspiga shop anywhere in the world where would it be? St Tropez What has been a personal highlight of your Aspiga journey? Wining an award for our Kenyan Beach cleans was a good moment.. and whenever I see someone wearing an Aspiga Item really makes me smile Favourite book or podcast to share? I am presently enjoying “How to lead a Sustainable Business” by Alannah Weston from Selfridges, she interviews some really interesting people. Best piece of business advice to pass on that you have learnt? My old chief executive used to say “keep your eyes on the horizon and your feet on the ground”, which I love. Also, over the years, I have learnt to trust your gut instinct, its normally always right. Favourite EBNP colour + why? I love the ‘Turquoise’, which we have painted our Flag Ship Shop in on the Kings Road, and the ‘Ethereal Blue’ which I painted my sitting room in and I love the pink ‘Cuisse de Nymphe Emue’ 'Cuisse de Nymphe Emue' the ultimate dusty pink Wall: Turquoise'Turquoise' our award winning 'Colour of the Year' What are the biggest changes the fashion industry needs to make to combat climate change? I think the government needs to put some legislation in place so companies have to be more transparent and cannot greenwash the public.. If you were to advise people to make one change tomorrow to better the planet, what would it be? There are so many, I don’t think it’s just one change we all need to make lots of little ones: eat meat less often, waste less food, compost the waste you have, off set all your airmiles, make considered purchases that you will last for a long time, don’t buy or use single use plastic.. We have stayed committed to our sustainable and ethical fashion practices and always choose carefully when deciding on our production process, the materials we use, our packaging, and printed media. Our long-term mission is to reduce and offset all our carbon footprint.
