Our new showroom is a space for conscious collaboration and we are excited to be exhibiting Saskia Saunders’ exhibition ‘Nurture’ which is a selection of works created with natural materials and our natural paints. For this collection, Nurture, in collaboration with Edward Bulmer Natural Paint, Saskia celebrates the visionary nature of plant-based creativity in art and interiors. Chosen with advice from one of our Colour Consultants, Saskia has used colours that are gentle and grounded: Jonquil, Shades of Tawny and Granite Green. Creating plant-based fine art that elevates sustainable, peaceful living for the collective wellbeing of our people and planet. Healthful I, II, III, IV Healthful I, II, III, IV, using Paper Yarn and Shades of 'Granite Green' Saskia Saunders brings the ancient craft of weaving into contemporary form to create elegant, large-scale tapestries and artworks which explore our collective need to live more sustainably, in harmony with nature. Saskia used our colour ‘Granite Green’ in its shades of 100%, 60%, 40% and 20% for this series of four works with Paper Yarn over the canvas. This gentle softening of this colour in the four pieces creates a subtle change in the relationship between the colour and paper yarn weaving. Saskia’s weavings are beautifully minimal, yet still warm in their tactile nature. Our colours serve as the perfect backdrop for these detailed and dynamic weavings. For ‘Grounded’ Saskia chose to use our colour ‘Tawny‘ in its shades to create a subtle density in the middle of the canvas and over the top is a weaving using hemp yarn. These natural and earthy colours and materials create a real sense of calm. By bringing the ancient craft of weaving into contemporary form, my work addresses our need to live more sustainably, in harmony with nature. I produce exclusive collections of work and private commissions for clients and galleries worldwide, from my garden studio in Buckinghamshire, England. It’s always so interesting for us to see creatives use our paint in different ways and Saskia’s work certainly didn’t disappoint! Over the ‘Jonquil’ canvas is a paper yarn weaving which gives the colour a fascinating texture, almost bringing the canvas to life. This space is painted in our ‘Invisible Green’ and it has been such a joyful space to be in over the past few months with the summer sun adding even more brightness to this colour. Saskia’s paper yarn tapestry ‘Light Falls’ works amazingly in this space, adding a sense of calm as the delicate yarn sways slowly in the summer breeze. This weaving is hung from a bamboo pole and is a true homage to plants and what we can create with natural materials.
