Our Water-Based Wood Primer is designed to prepare new and bare timber and MDF, creating a stable, even base before applying our Water-Based Eggshell or Gloss paints.
Suitable for all bare timber and MDF, it is particularly important on woods rich in active substances that can cause staining or tannin bleed. Knots should be spot-primed first, followed by two full coats of primer to help prevent discolouration from showing through the finished paint.
Low odour and ready to use, the primer can be diluted with up to 5% clean water if required.
Please note: For fresh plaster, lime plaster, lining paper or extensively filled surfaces, please use our Ultimate 2-in-1 Primer or our Plaster Primer.

We have spent years perfecting our pioneering plant-based paints and we are proud of the product we have created using gentle chemistry and a lot of dedication to making a more sustainable paint! We believe we are pioneers in creating natural paints using plant-based ingredients instead of petrochemical derived products.
Unlike many other paint brands, what’s in our tins is on our tins! We declare all of our ingredients, read our full list of ingredients and learn more about how our paint is made.

“But I also love the fact that Edward’s paints are natural and that they’re not damaging to the environment.”
A big thank you for suggesting ceiling colour and going darker with the Eau de Nile – I absolutely love it all! The house feels amazing.
Bright and Breezy!
First, I wanted to say how well all your recommendations are looking so far and that the decorator loves the paints. Apparently they’re a joy to use and even his wife notices how much nicer he smells using them!
“I love Edwards new colours, especially ‘Hespan’, which is a peachy, apricot and would look amazing in a feminine dressing room”

We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.
Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.
If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

This estimate is based on two coats of paint and the dimensions of your room, minus the space taken by average doors and windows.
For this area, we suggest would be adequate.
Our water based eggshell or gloss is ideal for woodwork or metalwork.
This estimate is based on two coats of paint and the skirting and the doors/windows you told us about. 1 litre should cover 2-3 doors or 20m of skirting.
